stolen cell phones
I read an article on usatoday.com that reports that the most common cell phone stolen is a side kick. the article continues to state that "thieves target Sidekicks because of their urban hipness quotient, and because they're easy to resell." The article also states that Boston police reported more than 300 sidekicks stolen in 2008 alone. It also makes reference to a site called checkmend.com where for a small fee you can register you cell phone or other electronic devise such as GPS incase it is ever stolen they can help you relocate your devices. Also according to checkmend.com "An estimated 600,000 cell phones will be reported lost or stolen this year"....and "Some victims report having received bills for more than $25,000 after their phone was stolen." So my advice to you is if your phone is ever lost or stolen get it shut off immediately to avoid a costly bill.
guest speaker
One thing I wondered if the guest speaker researched any was who people acted/participated in online communiction after that had participated in a face-to-face focus group.
She had at one point stated that some of the people who were invloved in one of the focus groups were so engrossed in their discussion topic that they had continued to converse after the focus group had finish. So I would imagine that the group members would have continued their conversations via the internet. She also explained how people in face-to-face interactions are more polite than people who are communicating virtually. So that is why I was wondering if the people who had previously had a physical face-to-face interaction are more polite the eachother in a virtual setting that people who haven't had face-to-face interactions with that people that they are communicating with?

One thing that I notice many of te students have in common is that we have had some form of access to a computer from an early age, and over the years we have gained more and more knowledge about how to operate them, and we are still learning new thnigs that can be done. |

Personal Computer Biography
It seems with people today everyone have some form of interaction with a type of computer on a daily bases. I personally am the same way, and it seems like I have to use different forms of technology to simply get through the day. I had been exposed to computers in school from an early age. As young as kindergarten we had to go to the computer lab once or twice a week for computer class, and during library we would use a computer to do accelerated reader. Once I started getting older we would use the computer and internet much more at school to do other things. My family got their first personal computer when I was in the third grade, but I was only allowed to use it for about an hour a day. As the years went on and I got older and more responsible my parents "loosened the leash", and let me have more time on the computer. I would use it just like any other average kid. I would play games, chat on MSN, check my e-mail, and a few other things. To this day I still do some of those things but I also use my computer to check grades, do homework, and check facebook. I also use other forms of technology on a daily bases. The first thing I do every morning when I wake up is check my blackberry for new e-mails or text messages, and I continue to use it through out the day. My phone goes everywhere with me and if I don't have it with me I feel awkward. I also use technology at work in various ways. I work at Wal-Mart so many aspects of my job involve technology. I have to use computers to request time off, do computer based learning (CBL'S) modules, as well as clock in and out at the beginning and end of my shift. I also use a telzon (hand held scanner) on a regular bases to do various tasks such as locating stores which have items that we are out of stock, checking prices, putting things away in the back room, and locating items in the back room. So as one can see I am just like a regular person in today's society with the use of technology.
